About the Event

The Waverly Hills Civic Association Woodstock Park Project Committee will meet at Woodstock Park with County staff on Tuesday, April 23, from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm. We will gather near the picnic tables. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss and make recommendations about cosmetic elements of a previously approved project to improve Woodstock Park that will be funded through the Arlington Neighborhoods Program.

Planned improvements to the Park under this project include adding partial fencing around the western and southern sides of the toddler playground; adding a shade canopy structure; planting shade trees; adding low-level pathway lighting along the main path through the park; adding two power outlets; adding more Adirondack chairs; replacing and adding picnic tables; adding a lower basketball hoop for younger children; seeding native plants under trees; and removal of invasive plants. The project has been approved by the Waverly Hills Civic Association, the Arlington Neighborhoods Advisory Committee, and the Arlington County Board.

The agenda for the April 23 meeting is discussion and formulation of recommendations about certain elements of the project design, including: (1) the color(s) of the shade structure; (2) the style of the pathway lighting fixtures; and (3) the design and color(s) of the Adirondack chairs. The design plan for the project, including the recommendations on these elements, will subsequently need to be approved by vote of the Waverly Hills Civic Association at a regular or special meeting.

If you have feedback on or questions about the project description, please submit a message for Alex Luchenitser (the Waverly Hills Civic Association Delegate to the Arlington Neighborhoods Advisory Committee) via the web-form at https://www.waverlyhills.org/contact or join us (if you are a Waverly Hills Civic Association member) at the April 23 meeting.
