About the Event

The Waverly Hills Civic Association will hold a special meeting by Zoom on Monday, May 6 at 7pm ET. The agenda for the meeting will be to discuss and vote on (1) the design of a project to improve Woodstock Park that will be funded through the Arlington Neighborhoods Program; and (2) selection of a new Arlington Neighborhoods Program project for Waverly Hills.

The Arlington Neighborhoods Program funds a variety of improvements to neighborhoods.  Program projects may include construction or installation of sidewalks, intersection modifications, curbs and gutters, streetlights, stormwater control measures, park improvements, new trees, and beautification.

Over the past half-year, a Program project to improve Woodstock Park was approved by the Waverly Hills Civic Association, the Arlington Neighborhoods Advisory Committee, and the Arlington County Board.  Planned improvements to the Park under this project include adding partial fencing around the western and southern sides of the toddler playground; adding a shade canopy structure; planting shade trees; adding low-level pathway lighting along the main path through the park; adding two power outlets; adding more Adirondack chairs; replacing and adding picnic tables; adding a lower basketball hoop for younger children; seeding native plants under trees; and removal of invasive plants.  At the special meeting, a more detailed project design will be presented for discussion and a vote on whether to approve it.

The meeting will be open to Waverly Hills Civic Association members and any invited guests. You can join the Civic Association at https://www.waverlyhills.org/join.
